Statement
I explore the micro violence of my backyard and the slow decay of nature. Works focus on naturally-occurring and man-made territories that are generally overlooked. I attempt to immortalize that which is commonplace in nature. It’s the beauty that occurs in a subject after it has been spent on its primary purpose that inspires me. Whether a mushroom, a bee or a discarded chicken wing, these things move through our consciousness barely noticed. These spent objects reveal stories and secrets in their period of transition. My work is about interrupting that process, examining, and ultimately capturing a moment of beauty in the transformative process.
